Screenshot Text Editor Without Watermark
Add labels, highlight a line, redact private details and blur faces on any screenshot — then download at full resolution.
Edit a screenshot without opening Photoshop
A screenshot is the fastest way to explain something, but the raw capture is rarely ready to share. It usually contains a name, an email address, an order number or a notification banner that should not go out with the image. It may also need a caption, an arrow or a highlighted line so the reader knows what to look at. This editor covers the four things people actually need to do with a screenshot: add text, hide private information, highlight a region, and blur a face or a background detail. Everything is drawn on a canvas in your browser, there is no watermark, and the exported file is the full resolution of your original screenshot.
Adding text
Type your note in the sidebar, choose a colour and a font size, then select the Add text tool and click on the image where the text should start. The text is drawn on top of the screenshot at the exact pixel size you chose, so a 28 pixel label stays readable when the image is viewed at full size. You can add as many labels as you like, and each one is a separate object, which means undo removes only the last one. To move a label after placing it, switch to the Move tool and drag it; the hit test uses the text bounding box, so clicking anywhere on the words picks them up.
Hiding private information properly
The Hide tool draws a solid rectangle over whatever you drag across. This is the only safe way to remove sensitive text from an image. Blur and pixelation are popular because they look softer, but a blurred region still contains a compressed version of the original pixels, and with the right tools a short string such as an account number can sometimes be recovered. A solid black or white box destroys the pixels completely. Use the black box for bank details, OTPs, Aadhaar numbers and anything else that must not leak, and reserve blur for faces and background clutter where a small risk is acceptable.
Highlighting and blurring
The Highlight tool paints a translucent rectangle in yellow, green, blue or pink, which is the digital equivalent of a marker pen. Because it is translucent, the text underneath stays readable, which is exactly what you want when pointing out a line in a long form or a row in a table. The Blur tool pixelates the region you drag across: it shrinks that part of the screenshot to a tiny image and scales it back up, which removes fine detail. The strength slider controls how small the intermediate image is, and therefore how unrecognisable the result becomes.
Resolution, file size and sharpness
The editor keeps your screenshot at its original pixel dimensions, so text in the export stays as crisp as it was in the capture. This matters for screenshots of code, spreadsheets and forms, where downscaling makes small text unreadable. If you need a smaller file for a chat app or an email attachment, set a maximum size in kilobytes and the editor will re-encode the JPEG to fit. Screenshots are mostly flat colour, so they compress very well and usually stay under a few hundred kilobytes even at high quality. If you are exporting a screenshot with transparency, keep the PNG format instead.
Practical uses
Support teams use this to circle the exact field that is wrong in a form. Teachers use it to mark up a diagram before sharing it with a class. Anyone filing a complaint uses it to hide their phone number while keeping the timestamps visible. And anyone who has ever tried to explain a bug in an app knows that a screenshot with one red arrow is worth a paragraph of description. Because the tool runs locally, it is also safe for internal screenshots that contain client names or system paths.
Frequently asked questions
Is this screenshot editor really free and watermark free?
Yes. There is no account, no upload and no watermark. The edited image is generated in your browser and downloaded directly.
How do I hide a phone number or account number in a screenshot?
Choose the Hide / redact tool, drag a box over the number and pick the black fill. A solid box removes the pixels completely, which is safer than blur.
Can I move text after adding it?
Yes. Switch to the Move tool and drag the text. Each label is a separate object, so you can reposition it without affecting the rest of the image.
Will the exported screenshot lose quality?
No. The editor works at the original pixel dimensions. Only the JPEG re-encoding can reduce quality slightly, and you can keep it at high quality or choose a maximum file size.
Does it work on mobile screenshots?
Yes. Any PNG or JPG screenshot from a phone can be opened, and the tools work with touch as well as a mouse.
A screenshot is evidence, so edit it carefully
People edit screenshots for three reasons: to point at something, to hide something, and to correct something. Pointing is easy — an arrow or a highlight. Hiding needs care, because a blurred account number is not actually hidden. Blur keeps a low-resolution copy of the original pixels, and short strings like a 10-digit number can sometimes be recovered from a blurred patch. A solid black box destroys the pixels, and that is the only method worth trusting for bank details, OTPs and ID numbers.
Correcting is the messy one. If a screenshot shows a typo in your own message, painting over it with a matching background colour and typing the right text almost never matches, because the font, the anti-aliasing and the background gradient all differ. The honest fix is to retake the screenshot after fixing the actual text. Editing the image is fine for a mockup, not for something you are submitting as proof.
One more thing worth knowing: screenshots of text are usually PNG, and PNG of flat UI compresses extremely well. Converting a screenshot to JPEG to save space is a bad trade — text picks up ringing artefacts around every letter, which is exactly the detail you were trying to preserve.
Fix it in this order
- Use a solid box, not blur, for anything private.
- Keep screenshots as PNG; JPEG adds artefacts around text.
- Highlight in a translucent colour so the text underneath stays readable.
- Add text at a size that survives being viewed on a phone.
- Never edit a screenshot you intend to submit as proof.
